For many years I've been flying around the outer islands of S.E.
Alaska and watching whales from the plane. They are truly some
of the most magnificent animals on this earth and I never tire
of them. I've also been thinking of how to share the whales but,
up until now I hadn't come up with an affordable viewing area
I felt I could take people to with a consistent chance of seeing
numbers of whales.
Well last year I did some flying in an out of
the way area and I saw whales every time I went there. In fact
there were times when I had to change my landing path to avoid
whales and one time I had a whale swim under my floating plane.
It doesn't hurt that this area is downright gorgeous with mountains
and a myriad of islands and cliffs ending in the sea, waves foaming
at their bases. With eagles, seals, sea otters, sea lions, an
occasional puffin and of course whales.
As you can see, the second picture down is a
little blurry...well really blurry...but that's what a whale looks
like from the plane and I took that picture while flying and banking,
with one hand on the camera...perhaps you can do better and I'll
put it on the website.
So... am I going to guarantee that you'll see
all these animals...nope, they all move way too much... but, I
haven't been there in a long time when I haven't seen whales.
